Other AbstractThe paper puts forward new understanding of the forming mechanem of Shizishan Landslide Group along Chengdu-Kunming Railay and landslides along the Irrigation Ditch on the Edge of Loess Plateau near Baojixia through analiysing the data about them. The author considers that those landslides are controlled by the slide-favourable strata and effective slopes facing the air. It means the slpoes are high up in the air. There are two kinds of slide-favourable strata which have different characteristics——Chengdu Clay (Q3) and liading Res Shale (K2) in Shizishan Region, Chengdu. So, two kinds of strata in the region along the Irrigation Dich on the Edge of the Loess Plateau near Baojixia, landslides are controlled by two kinds of them——Yellow Alluvial Mild Clay (Q1) and Red Clay (N2). So, the characteristics of the two kinds of landslides are different from each other. It is pointed out that the effective slopes facting the air in Shizishan Region are provided by cutting. The effective slopes facting the air for the landslides along the Irrigation Ditch on the Edge of the Loess Plateau are provided by rayer erosion.
