AbstractA lot of debris flows occurred in the Sungpan-Pingwu area of August 1976, were triggered by the earthquakes, better described as earthquake-debris flow associated with time-space correlation of real earthquake sequences or severe earthquake. Earthquake-debris flows is a type of bebris flows in an earthquake area, located mainly in an intensity and above (on the Modified Mearcall Scale) area. Under certain circumstances, severe earthquake can revive and old debris flow unprecedented in history. The three elements of earthquake (ie.e.e picentre, time, and magnitude) are closely realted to the three conditions of formation debris flow (i.e. relief, water, and solid loose material). The relationship between the three elements and the three conditions exists in the corrspondence, favor, and interaction, and then the earthquake-bebris flows occur. The mathematical expressions for these relationships are as flollows: K=Er where Ei is an epicentre  or earthquake area corresponding to relief factor, Tw is a time of earthquake corresponding to water factor Mm is a magnitude of earthquake corresponding solid loose material factor, and K is an integral factor or occurrence of earthquake-debris flow. If we take the Er, Tw, and Mm to class and given certain values for them respectively. substituting the values for every factor into above expression, Then K1 may be occurrence of earthquake-debris flow, K=0 may not be occurrence of earthquake-debris flow, In a word, the earthquake-debris flows of Sunpan-Pingwu of August  1976 resulted from three natural factors (i. e. mountain, rain season, and severe earthquake) interacting. It is very important that to prevent against debris flow during rain season occurrence of severe earthquake in mountaions, just as to take precaution against fire when occurrence of severe earthquake in city.
Other Abstract1976年8月16~23日,松潘平武之间山区,接连三次发生强度地震,震级依次为7.2、6.7和7.2级。松潘平武地震共死亡38人,牲畜损失2800多头,毁坏耕地15000多亩,房屋倒塌5000余间,损坏桥梁30多处,涵洞200多座、小水电站几处(容量2000多千瓦)。其中,除房屋损失和人员死亡因泥石流造成所占比例稍小外,耕地、桥涵、道路、小水电站的损失,绝大部分是泥石流造成的。作者在震区对地震泥石流,即地震诱发形成的泥石流,进行了历时两个月的考察。本文记叙了实地见到的震区自然环境和地震泥石流的一些特点,重在探讨地震泥石流的形成条件,力图由此对地震泥石流的发生进行预测。
