Other Abstract In semiarid area of Southwest Ameirca, the types of land use include the land used for city, agriculture, park and recreation, as well as widerness and water area. These types can be distinguished on 1 : 1000000 satellite image with visual interpretation, supplemented by density slicer.MSS 4-7 three bands are all suitable for land use study in semiarid area.MSS 4, 5 bands are very useful to land use in city and agriculture.MSS 6, 7 bands may be used for determining the water realm.Various crops and their growing stages and situation have been clearly reflected on MSS 4-7 images.
