Check dam is commonly one of the blocking engineering in harnessing debris flow. By analyzing the solving methods and distribution of sensitive factors which have great influence on the design of blocking engineering such as geotechnical parameters,geometric features and load factors and so on,based on various failure modes of blocking engineering,the structural performance function is determined by failure modes. The limit state equation is built from three aspects including stability against tilting, stability against sliding and base stress requirement and so on. The reliability analysis process of check dam engineering is derived. Based on which,considered the check-dam system as a parallel system,reliability formula of prevention system is derived. It will play an active role in promoting the utiligation of the reliability design method in the debris flow control engineering and optimum design.
