AbstractThe Ms8.0 Whenchuan Earthquake happened on May12,2008, because the mechanism of Longmen mountain central fracture walk sliding thrust, the earthquake formed a largercoseismic displacement and secondary disaster such as collapse, landslide and debris flow, all of which makesmicrorelief changed. In order to quantitatively describe the influence of Ms8.0Wenchuanearthqziakeon the microrelief we conductextraction plane coordinates and elevation of discrete point from remote sensing image after the earthquake, establishing digital elevation model (DEM,1:50000) and contour map of the same region before and after the earthquake,with using this data detected the surface vertical displacement of earthquake-stricken area,comparative analysisthelength and area change of the same contour before and after the earthquake. The experimental results show thatlength change rate of each contour has linear function relationship with contour length and elevation in Wenchuan earthquake surface deformation area, each change rateof closed contour area has linear function relationship with contour area and elevation. The results has great significance on revealing theinfluence of surface deformation to microrelief contour map update, reconstruction of geographic space infrastructure in Whenchuan earthquake area.
